Marching with Marcus: How to be a Good Dad
"Marching with Marcus" clips unpack the ancient wisdom of the Stoics to help us live better today. Sunday 5 Sept was Father's Day over here in Australia, so I was doing some soul searching about what makes a good dad. Drawing on Stoic philosophy, and one of Marcus’ most famous quotes, I think focusing on these four areas is a great place to start: 1. Prioritise teaching values 2. Provide a safe loving environment 3. Lead by example (what you do is more important than what you say) 4. “Live each day as if it were your last, without frenzy, without apathy, without pretence.” The opposite of frenzy is calm, the opposite of apathy is empathy, the opposite of pretence is honesty. Thanks, Marcus, for some great parenting advice!

Why understanding "Extraordinarily Ordinary" is critical to living your best life
In the self-help game we're often looking up to, and trying to learn from, extraordinary people. The idea is that we take those learnings and embed them into our own lives so that we can achieve some of what they've achieved, ultimately becoming more "successful" ourselves. On the surface that seems like a good strategy. However, if you scratch under the surface, it's a completely sh#t strategy. That's because we're trying to learn the wrong things from these extraordinarily ordinary people. Don't get me wrong, they have a lot to teach us, however, you need to focus more on how and why they do what they do, rather than what they're achieving. Because at the end of the day, no matter how extraordinary you are on the outside, on the inside we're pretty much the same.

Aiming for perfection decreases your productivity, performance, and wellness.
In this clip I give advice on why you're better off aiming for 'good enough' when it comes to managing your time and performance. And, the difference between aiming for perfection and having an inspiring Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG). Then I wrap it up with a focus on mental-health and a great quote by Anne Lamott: "Perfection is shallow, unreal, and fatally uninteresting."

Quick Quote: "No one has ever become poor by giving."
Some of the smartest and happiest people in the world have been telling us a version of this quote forever... The more you give, the more you get. It took me a little while to figure this out for myself, and importantly take action to do something about it. But it's never too late, and since I've started giving more, 100% I've been getting more!

Rambling with Ram Dass: Episode 1 [parenting and reincarnation]
This is where I ramble on about philosophy, consciousness, and spirituality. PS: A ramble is: a] to walk aimlessly or for pleasure, and b] to talk or write at length in a confused or inconsequential way. In the "Rambling with Ram Dass" clips, I ramble on about the important stuff in life – philosophy, consciousness, and spirituality – stuff that people spend their whole lives studying. Stuff that I don’t fully understand. Each clip covers something that I’ve learned, that resonated with me, and importantly has either made me look at life differently, or start to live mine better. Why are they called “Rambling with Ram Dass”? Because he's one of my gurus when it comes to all this stuff, and his name rhymes with rambling.
